End of Redemption Period Approaching

Chydonna Thurston - Wednesday, August 31, 2016

The Beaufort County Treasurer’s Office, in accordance with South Carolina State Statute §12-51-120, will be contacting by mail the delinquent real property owners whose property was sold at the 2015 Tax Sale, to notify them that the redemption period will be ending.

“Once the redemption period has ended there is very little recourse for the property owner and their property will be titled to the winning bidder. Because of this, we make every effort to inform them of this deadline.”, said Maria Walls, Beaufort County Treasurer.

These notices will be mailed to delinquent property owners, mortgagees, and/or lessees of the property of record. These parties will have until 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 6, 2016 to redeem the property by paying all taxes, fees and penalties owed. Taxes may be paid at one of our three office locations or by mail. Current redemption amounts can be found online on our website or by contacting our office.
