First Online FLC Auction Considered a Success

Maria Walls - Thursday, September 17, 2015

As a result of the online Forfeited Land Commission (FLC) Auction, 28 properties were sold and returned to the Beaufort County tax roll. The following is a summary of the auction results:

·         48 properties were auctioned and available for immediate tax title

·         Total taxes outstanding: $180,004.16

·         50 individuals registered to bid

·         58% of the properties being auctioned were sold

·         Total income generated: $119,445

·         Total cost to Beaufort County: $1,411.48

·         Total number of bids entered:190

“The Forfeited Land Commission had not actively pursued the sale of properties until now. To collect 66% of the taxes outstanding and transfer more than half of the properties back into the hands of taxpaying citizens at our first auction is a successful outcome,” said Maria Walls, CPA, Beaufort County Treasurer.

The total income generated from the auction will go towards Beaufort County’s general fund. For more information about the Forfeited Land Commission visit
